My swing has never been all that great. Being left handed it's hard to get decent golf training to correct any issues that I may have. And I have plenty. So in an effort to push my golf training forward I've started picking up golf training books. Like this book about golf swings from the great Ben Hogan. Sure, it's 50 years old, but as far as great golf swings goes, this is a good place to start.
I also happen to be slightly overweight. And I figure that if I am going to pay for golf training, I should probably get the most I can out of it getting back in to shape
In Fit for Golf Kuzmic brings his expertise to you in a streamlined format, outlining a simple fitness regimen that--if followed faithfully--will have you dropping strokes and pounds in no time by using the very same techniques he used while training those top PGA players. He begins with his basic philosophy of working out--namely, that every muscle is a "golf muscle" and only the steady development of all of them will help make you a better player. One of the things that makes the sport so difficult is that it requires you to use your entire body to perform a very precise task. From quadriceps to deltoids, and from heart to head, Kuzmic will take you through the basics of building a better golf body. He'll show you how to evaluate your strengths and weaknesses and, with that knowledge, how to customize your own personal workout. Accompanied by detailed instructions and helpful photographs, sample workout programs designed to fit different needs, abilities, and schedules are provided.
Beside reading 50 year old golf training books, it makes sense to look in to some golf training schools. Most of the golf schools are in the south east and west. I prefer going to the golf training schools in Florida because I prefer the resorts in Florida. They tend to be a bit more laid back than going to Vegas or California.
I've been looking in to going to http://www.advantagegolfschool.com/ near St. Petersburg. The nice thing is that Advantage Golf School has training centers all over the country. So I can get follow up golf training just about anywhere I would want to take a vacation.
